This relaxed walking tour is a great way for students to discover Cork City and feel at home from their first day. The tour begins outside the main CES Building, where students will learn about the area around the school and how to find their way easily. From there, the group walks up St Patrick’s Hill, one of the city’s oldest areas, offering fantastic views across Cork and a perfect chance to take photos.
Next, students cross St Patrick’s Bridge over the River Lee, an important river that flows through the centre of the city and gives Cork its unique shape. The group will stop outside Le Château, a well-known landmark, before heading into the English Market. This lively indoor market is full of colour, smells, and sounds, and is famous for its fresh local food and friendly atmosphere.
The tour then continues along South Mall, a busy street with impressive buildings and an interesting mix of old and modern Cork. After crossing Michael Collins Bridge, the walk moves onto MacCurtain Street, one of the city’s most vibrant areas, known for its cafés, shops, live music, and social life. The tour finishes back at the school, giving students the confidence and excitement to explore Cork independently and enjoy everything the city has to offer.
